The three core publications are the main Call of Cthulhu Keeper Rulebook, which contains everything a Keeper needs to run the game (except dice, pencils and friends) the Investigator Handbook, which provides extended character creation options, a selection of investigator groups and plenty of background material on the 1920s and the Keeper Screen, which gives you a nifty rules summary, along with two scenarios - Missed Dues by Mike Mason and Blackwater Creek by Scott Dorward. And if you insist that all three of the Good Friends are involved in a book before you buy it (as you well should), Scott edited it. The main rulebook also contains two new scenarios, including Amidst the Ancient Trees by fellow Good Friend, Matt Sanderson. This revision, carried out by Good Friend of Jackson Elias Paul Fricker, along with Mike Mason, is a reverent one, retaining everything that has made Call of Cthulhu so popular while adding some more modern touches. If you’ve followed the project you’ll know that this is a complete rewrite of the Call of Cthulhu rules, giving them their first major update in over 30 years. Buying the PDF carries less risk of having your body possessed by an ancient inhuman intelligence. You can buy them directly from the Chaosium website or ingest the tar of the black lotus and project your consciousness to the Great Library of Celaeno, hoping some gibbering man-beast hasn’t already checked them out. Many famous people have been invited, and I thought this was a good way to bring the characters together for the first session with a little foreshadowing for Achtung and World War Cthulhu thrown in, although it is not part of the original Temple of the Moon adventure. After much spilling of blood and innumerable blasphemous incantations to the dark gods of editing, art and layout, the PDFs for the core books of Call of Cthulhu 7th edition are officially out. The game begins when certain members of the Minerva Society, namely the characters, are brought together for the unveiling of a mummy at the New York (American) Museum of Natural History for a private showing. The Society isn't spoken about or acknowledged to exist outside of it's membership. Needless to say they fund many educational and research institutions dedicated to the discovery of new science and knowledge and have more than a few members interested in the occult. The Society has become very wealthy although how this wealth was obtained remains obscured in the past and behind multiple subsidiaries owned by the group. ![]() ![]() The Minerva Society as it was called, is based on a Gaslight campaign that I am writing, where the characters from that campaign came together around the turn of the 20th century in it's aftermath to form together this group based on an ancient Roman cult of Minerva. Bourke, and my players will introduce themselves in the first session.įor a little background information, the characters all belong to a secret society dedicated to furthering the discovery of obscure and previously unrevealed knowledge. This game is being played at Boldo's Armory on Monroe Avenue anbd other locations in Rochester NY by a group of players from the "Rochester Sci-fi/ Roleplay Geek Meetup group". This is a seventh edition Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game scenario published by Chaosium back sometime in the 1980's (under a previous edition) called Temple of the Moon, which can be found in the publications Terror from the Stars (1986), and Cthulhu Classics (1989).
